COMPUTER WORKSHOP ON ANIMATION

With an aim to facilitate the professional development of our computer faculty, the school organised a day long Interactive workshop on Flash Animation in the school premises. Along with teachers of G.D.Goenka Vasant Kunj about 10 teachers from franchise schools joined in for the day long workshop.The Workshop commenced with a brief introduction about Mr.Arun Gaur, a working proffessional in the animation industry by Ms.Gurpreet Kaur, the Head of the Department of Computer Science. This was followed by a wonderful hands-on-session by Mr.Gaur on how to create effective animations using Flash. The participants were encouraged to try out all the activities, and evolve as a better animator. They were happy not only to explore and learn but also to share their ideas on a common platform. The workshop ended with a vote of Thanks to our resource person, Mr. Gaur by the HOD, who also prompted all the teachers on the necessity to update themselves with technology so as to be in tune with the students of Modern Times.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME WITH CZECH REPUBLIC AT GOOGLE’S OFFICE

The students of our school had an amazing opportunity to interact with students of Czech Republic, Bangalore and Patiala during a recent Hangout session organised by Google. The students were accompanied by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur and Ms.Nidhi Rai. During the Hangout session they were given a virtual tour of a fair happening at Czech Republic. The students were super excited to be interacting with students at different geographical locations and to learn about their culture and study environment. The happy faces of the students at the end of the session said it all !!!

WORKSHOP ON INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY IN CLASS ROOM TEACHING

G.D.GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOOL, VASANT KUNJ, has recently organised a Workshop for Mathematics Teachers of franchise schools and its own.

About 25 teachers, including 18 from different franchise schools attended the workshop.

The Workshop was conducted by Ms. Rashmi Kathuria, on “Integrating technology in classroom teaching of Mathematics”.  Ms. Kathuria was conferred with National Best E-Teacher Award in 2007, by our former President Dr. A.P.J.Abdul  Kalam followed by National ICT Award by the current President of India Shri.Pranab Mukherjee.

The Workshop commenced with a brief introduction about Ms.Rashmi Kathuria by Mr.S.K.Bansal, the Head of the Department of Mathematics followed by a wonderful note by Ms.Kathuria on how to ‘RISE’  and evolve as the best teacher during the course of one’s career as a Teacher.

The participants were encouraged to create a joyful learning environment, to explore not only to learn but also to share their ideas on a common platform.

The tips given on

  • Creating Formative Assessments

  • reducing common errors committed by students

  • finding the Area of any irregular polygon using Euler’s Formula and GeoBoard,

 were quite innovative and sounded very effective.

The various links provided on Free Math Software  like GeoGebra, Mind Mapping, Origami and Mathematics, Sample Worksheet on PSA, Interactive Tools etc., exposed the participant to the world of Modern Technology and its application in Education.

Also, making SNOW-FLAKES using Origami sheets and creating 3-D models of Platonic Solids like Tetrahedron, Icoso hedron, Dodecohedron based on 2-Dimensional Net was very well explained . Teachers who were divided into small groups could do the same  comfortably.

The teachers were prompted on the necessity to update themselves with technology so as to be in tune with the students of Modern Times.

For the teachers who were looking forward to set up Math Lab and Sample Math-Lab Activities, the workshop provided  them with better ideas.

The workshop lasted for about 3 hours and was quite engaging, interactive and interesting.

Being the Resource Person for CBSE, the various links provided on Math-Lab activities are very much relevant to the Syllabus given by NCERT.

The programme came to an end, with votes of Thanks by Mr. Tariq Habeeb, the senior most Faculty of the Department.

The Teachers were quite happy to go back with the models, inspired to make the students explore the same.

Our school participated in CBSE Inter School Competition 2014-15 held at Mangolpuri ‘C’ Block swimming pool from 2nd – 4th September, 2014 organised by Remal Public School Delhi.

On 29th August’14 Hindi Recitation Competition

‘Nanha Kavi’ was held in G.D.Goekna,Karkardoma,on the topic ‘Khel Bhawna’. From our school Kanav Narula (4C) & Dhruv Mittal (3E) participated in the event.
Our of 28 participants from 24 schools, Dhruv Mittal of our school bagged the 1st prize in the recitation competition.

WORLD DIDAC INDIA AND ASIAN SUMMIT ON EDUCATION AND SKILL

The school gave an opportunity to the teachers of Maths Department to attend India’s only event dedicated to the Education and Training sector and probably the largest event of its kind in Asia Pacific Region at Pragati Maidan(10th -12th September 2014). WORLD DIDAC is an annual show case of Global Education and Training resources, focusing on all the levels of education from early learning to vocational training.

Most of the educational material was based on International Standards of curricula, goals and skills. The exhibition showcased  Innovative teaching ideas, latest technological hardware , Maths lab  and Language labs equipments and modules, educational toys for strengthening the cognition, Mathematical skills, social and somatic education in children.

German stalls of “Education all” and “Dusyma”, NCERT lab solutions, Pearsons E-books , “Weplay”  products  for coordinating physical movement  and cognitive development in children , were highly appreciated by most of the visitors.DSC_0060DSC_0067
