Diwali Celebrations

Diwali was celebrated in a little different manner in the school this year. Besides the usual Diwali Asssembly the students of the Primary Department put up a poster outside their class stating the total number of students, who promised to celebrate Diwali without bursting crackers. Students also made Rangoli to usher in a pollution free and environment friendly Diwali.

Poetry Recitation

During the Literary Week held in October, Poetry Recitation for classes III and IV too  was conducted .

As the famous painter and sculptor Vincent Van Gogh said “ If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere .”

Keeping this in mind the theme was “Friends with Nature”. The young Goenkan’s  did complete justice to the theme by reciting the poems with feelings, expressions and voice modulation that made each participant a winner.

English Literary Week

As a part of the English Literary Week , ‘Spellathon’, a quiz on spellings was conducted for Class V . The four competitors were from each section of class V and had been selected after undergoing two strenuous rounds of spelling tests within the sections.

The  Spellothon comprised of various rounds  as , filling in missing alphabets, arranging jumbled words, cross word puzzles and the hilarious silent letter test.

It was a stiff competition and each section was ready to give the other a tough fight.

The results of the Spellathon were as follows:

3rd Position –   V A & B

Bully to Buddy

On Tuesday, October 18, 2016, a special assembly was held in the school to address the issue of bullying. A workshop named “Bully to Buddy” was organized as a part of the assembly. The workshop aimed to counter the recent trend of bullying among young children. It was conducted by Ms Geetika and Ms Aditi from Fortis Healthcare. The two psychologists are working in the field of “Mental Health of Children and Adolescents”.

It was an interactive workshop with the entire school forming a part of the audience – teachers and students alike. The resource persons apprised the children how to handle difficult situations. The enthusiastic interaction of the students with the resource persons during and after the workshop was heartening to watch. The effort was well applauded.

HINDI RECITATION COMPETITION

On 20th October an Inter Class Poetry Recitation took place. The topic of recitation was ‘Desh Bhakti’.

The participants were full of patriotism for their motherland as were the poems that they recited. The participants inspired the audience to always be ready to make the greatest sacrifice if their motherland beckoned them.

The painstaking efforts of the participants in delivering the poems with emotions, enthusiasm and voice modulation kept the audience riveted to their seats.  The huge applause and cheer that they received bore testimony to the fact that the poems were enjoyed and appreciated by one and all.

The result of the competition is as follows:

1st Prize went to               Class V D

2nd Prize was bagged by  Class  V A

3rd Prize was claimed by  Class V B
