Apropos : Buzzing Biz fest inter house competition was organized by the Commerce Department  on 16th and 17th October 2017.’’Shark tank” Sales Pitch Competition and Add Act competition was held on Day 1 and Day 2 respectively.

1.Shark Tank

We live in a competitive business world where new startups are challenging the older setups and the constant innovation is the tool for successful business ventures.  The new ventures require funds but raising capital isn’t easy.  The Angel investors and the venture capitalists provide finance only to exceptionally profitable projects.

The students prepared presentations with the following content-

1.   Understanding and analyzing the product they were pitching

2.   Having an appealing power-point presentation

3.   Doing a complete SWOT analysis

4.   A risk assessment

5.   Budget break down (allocation of required funds).

6.   Each judge/shark asked one question each, answers were judged upon.

7.   It was also beneficial to mention the impact the product would have on society.

We had three Judges(two ex Goenkans) who have a proven record in the industries.

1.Judge 1- Prateek Sachdeva An ex- Goenkan, After completing his education from Parsons, he joined Versace in 2007. After multiple promotions, he developed keen interest in technology. His passion for technology inspired him to co-found Mobikasa in 2010. His hard work has paid off and Mobikasa is recognized as one of the top development companies with numerous happy clients.

2.Judge 2- Prateek Arora is a software engineer , technology analyst, was working as a Software development engineer at Microsoft in USA.He moved to India and has his interest from technology to snow boarding.

3.Judge 3- Varun Kumar also an ex Goenkan Founder: Pashmina.com
The Journey of taking the richest Handicraft of India to the World by Bringing Certified Quality & Authenticity to the Product with a deep impact on Sustainability & Empowerment is what defines Pashmina.com. 10 Years of International Experience in Global Marketing & M&A. Left a High Growth Career for an Idea of taking Pashmina as Heb a Textile & Art to the world through Ecommerce.

The students interacted with the Judges and were happy to know how in the real world their idea will be taken.

2. Add Act

 The Ad-Act is intended to draw out the creative side participants by offering them a competitive platform that amalgamates acting and business acumen.

To prepare future innovator and entrepreneur in them, we hosted an Ad-Act in the Ad-mad world to market their Product. The medium of presentation was English and Social message and a relevant Jingle was also incorporated in the add Act.

There were two rounds. First round was on a product given to the students to promote. The second round was on Tourism in Rural and Backward areas.

 The Judges Ms Prabjot Butalia,Ms Anisha Talwar and Ms Rohina Shah were all praise about the event and applauded the use of good English in the advertisement. They also gave tips about how they could improve the Advertisement.

The tourism to rural and backward area the students researched on the area and how they had a good experience being close to nature and appreciating the virgin beauty of the backward area and the struggle for the basic in rural area. Some child also mentioned because of no net connectivity they could enjoy the place better.

The Book Fest took place in the GDGPS, Vasant Kunj from 11th to 13th October 2017. The event witnessed great exhilaration and excitement all around the school campus. It was a fun packed week with children immersed in a plethora of activities to renew their love for books. The students at each level enthusiastically participated in the activities and displayed their artistic and literary skills.

Students expressed their creative imaginations in different activities like ‘Designing of Bookmark’, ‘Creation of Book Cover’, ‘Draw & Describe favourite book character’, ‘Poster making on joys of reading’. They got an chance to enhance their reading skills through some literary activities like Book Review, Weaving a story, Picture Composition and Book Quizzes.

Special assembly on the theme “Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader” was organized wherein the students conveyed the message that how reading shaped the lives of all the famous personalities like Abdul Kalam,

Narendra Modi, Steve Jobs and Mahatma Gandhi and made them great leaders. It emphasized the fact that every leader has an absolute common habit of reading in them.

The event was also graced by the eminent author Ms. Vaijayanti Savant Tonpe who had an interactive story telling session with students of classes 3 and 4. The students got engrossed in the various stories she told them from the Panchatantra . Children unanimously enjoyed the actions portrayed by her during the narration of stories.

To sum up the Book Fest was a major step in instilling the habit of reading into the students of GDGPS.

Primary Excursion

The students of the Primary Section were in for a fun filled treat on Friday, the 27th October. The children were taken for the movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks” from the school.The movie was thoroughly enjoyed by the little Goenkans as evidenced from the rolls of laughter in the hall all through the film. After the movie, the children were taken to a garden for some outdoor action where they ran with wild abandon, played games and enjoyed in the lap of nature.

Anti Substance Campaign

On October 25th, 2017, G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, organized an enlightening and interactive workshop on anti substance abuse for the students of class XI and XII. The workshop was organised and carried out by the Head Boy, Aryan Kanoi, who had initiated the Anti Substance Campaign in school to mark the Red Ribbon Week, with the support of School Counsellors Ms. Swati Kumar Mohan and Mrs. Gurmanjot Nandwani.

The workshop was presided over and addressed by Ms. Prachi Kathuria, Project officer, HRIDAY (Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth). HRIDAY is an organization of public health professionals, social scientists and lawyers engaged in advocacy and research aiming to promote health awareness and informed health activism among youth in India. The workshop included statistical information, enthralling documentaries about some inspiring stories about people dropping tobacco out of their lives, real life case studies followed by an engrossing Q & A session. The workshop was very informative and instilled a sense of responsibility and prudence amongst our senior Goenkans.

 

Diwali Celebrations

The special assembly of Dhanteras morning, on Wednesday, October17, 2017, built up the mood of Diwali with the morning prayer. A melodious rendition left the audience mesmerised. A dance performance by the little children held the audience spellbound. A skit was presented by the young actors of our school exhorting everyone to celebrate an eco-friendly festival of lights. In the break a street play was put up by the senior children in the basketball court in its typical tradition – inviting the attention of the passers-by. Soon a large number of children were drawn to this scintillating performance. 

As the assembly ended the excited voices wishing happy Diwali to one another could be heard all around.

 

German Play Competition

German students of G.D Goenka Public School have won the FIRST PRIZE at the recently concluded German Tag – “Tag der Deutchen Sprachen” in collaboration with Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi –  on 12th October’ 2017 at S.D. Public School, East Patel Nagar.
