SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2017

Scholastic Award Presentation Ceremony of GD Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, took place on December 2, 2017 in the school auditorium. The ceremony commenced with Ganesh Vandana, School Song and an Indian dance form titled Rhythms of Nature. Principal, Mr Sanjay Yadav, underlined the accomplishments of Goenkans. 115 students of classes 6, 9, 11, and class 12 batch of 2016-17 attended the ceremony with their parents. They were felicitated for their outstanding performance in academics by Prof Dr Srihari, Vice Chancellor, G.D.Goenka University, our Chief Guest for the evening. The compères highlighted the achievements, the aspirations and the role models of the students being awarded. In his closing address, the Chief Guest commended that most of the students considered their parents and grandparents as their role models. The evening ended with sumptuous high tea. It was a day of pride for the parents.

SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE AWARDS CEREMONY 2015

The Scholastic Excellence Awards Ceremony of G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj was held at the School Auditorium on 5th December, 2015. An important event in the school calendar, the ceremony felicitates those students who have maintained a high academic performance. Under the able leadership of the Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav and the patronage of the Vice Principal, Mrs. Swadesh Kumar, the function began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. With a melodious chanting of the ‘Ganesh Vandana’ , the lamp of knowledge set the tone for the beautiful evening to unfold. An adaptation of the iconic ‘Sound Of Music’ was presented on stage with a live choir and elegantly choreographed dancers. The solo singers enthralled the audience with the eternally favourite classics like ‘I am sixteen’, ‘These are a few of my favourite things’ and ‘the hills are alive….’

As the applause for the visually enchanting dance drama died down, the audience waited in anticipation for the Principal’s address. Mr. Sanjay Yadav inspired and motivated all Goenkans to sustain their aspirations for academic excellence. He expressed the need for the constant cooperation between teachers, parents and students that would uphold sterling standards in education and character building. He appreciated the efforts of the students who are constantly surprising us with their various achievements and honours. Being at the helm of such a dynamic school, he spoke about the need for constant self awareness and evolution.

The traditional element of India’s rich cultural  heritage was incorporated into the ceremony by the Indian Dance Department of the School. ‘Splendours of Indian Dance’ show cased the graceful Kathak style, the dramatic Bharatnatyam and the ancient Odissi  and the animated Kathakali forms on stage. The brilliant costumes of the agile and graceful dancers heightened the aesthetic and spiritual experience of the audience.  The impressively attired Kathakali dancer was the high point of this presentation. The visual finesse of the presentation was attained under the guidance of the Vice Principal, Mrs. Swadesh Kumar.

The felicitations of the Scholar Awardees was the much cheered and applauded part of the programme. The proud parents witnessed their wards receiving a glittering trophy and certificate from the Chief Guest Dr. Raj Singh , the Vice Chancellor of G.D.Goenka University and the Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav. Wearing their scholar badge blazers, the awardees collected on stage to receive a word of encouragement from the chief guest. An eminent academician, Dr. Raj Singh spoke at length about nurturing the individuality of each child. He quoted Kahlil Gibran and motivated the parents and teachers to give wings to the students, to empower them to fly and attain joy in their passionate goals. The Head Girl of the School, Bhumika Sharma presented the vote of thanks and expressed sincere gratitude to the Activity Department and Mrs. Seema Ahuja, the Activity Incharge and to the Senior Examination Incharge Mrs. Alka Oberoi for the success of the programme. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

ANNUAL SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE AWARD CEREMONY

G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj organized the Annual Scholastic Excellence Award Ceremony on Saturday 29th Nov’ 2014 to felicitate meritorious students who have excelled in academics over a period of 3 consecutive years. The function was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Dr. B.K.Tripathi, Director NCERT and the Guest of Honour Mr. Derek Mountford, Executive Director G.D. Goenka World School.

The parents were delighted to hear an enthralling rendition of various taals through Indian Instrumental Music ‘Chann-dam’. ‘Swar Aakar’ presented the primal sounds of ‘Om’ resounding through the caves to the rhythms and joys of the fast city life through aero-yoga. ‘Symphonic Odyssey in concert’ an ensemble was dedicated to classic film music. The pieces presented, portrayed joy, tragedy, heroism, excitement, silence and gave the audience a glimpse of what film music is all about.

The programme was greatly appreciated by all. The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the Principal Mr. D.M.Sharma exhorted the students to continue to achieve perfection and excellence in whatever they set out to do.
