Goenkan Grandeur-2017

On the second day of Ninth Gayatri Devi Goenkan Memorial Cultural Festival, “Goenkan Grandeur” 2017, two events were held: Inter-School English Elocution Contest and Inter-School Western Dance Competition.

The day began with the registration of the participants followed by delicious breakfast at the cafeteria. All the participants, thereafter, assembled in the auditorium. The Master of Ceremony, Ms Meeru Pande, welcomed the guests. The Principal, Mr Sanjay Yadav, gave his blessings to the participants.

English Literary Event (Inter-School English Elocution Contest)

The Vice Principal, Ms Swadesh Kumar drew the lots and encouraged the children to give their best. The judges, the renowned academician, Ms Shrawasti Ganguli and the popular TV host, Mr Mayank Batheja were introduced to the audience. Twenty six participants from thirteen schools created magic with their words through extremely interesting pieces and highly impressive elocution. They were judged on (a) Choice of Piece    (b) Confidence (c) Memory (d) Diction (e) Presentation.  The team of G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj won the third prize. G.D.Goenka Public School, Greater Noida, was the runner-up team and the team of Amity International School emerged as the winner. The Principal congratulated the English Department and the HOD, Ms Rohina Shah for the successful concept.

Inter-School Western Dance Competition

Ten teams mesmerized the spectators through their scintillating performances. The judges, the famous names in the circle of dance professionals, Mr Anubhav Sharma and Mr Dilip Raikwar, judged the incredibly beautiful dances on the basis of Creativity, Choice of Music, Choreography and Costumes. Result was declared and prizes distributed. Teams of Amity International School and G.D.Goenka World School jointly took the third place. G.D.Goenka Public School, Sector48, Gurgaon was the runner-up team. The efforts of the Dance Director, Ms Vidushi, bore fruit when G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj was declared the best team. The highly competitive dance extravaganza ended with a lip smacking lunch at the cafeteria.

Tirelessly working behind the scene, the Activity Incharge, Ms Anisha, ensured flawless conduct of the event.

Citation Ceremony

The 18th Citation Ceremony of GD Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi took place on January 25, 2017 in the school auditorium at noon. It was attended by the members of the Management viz, Principal, My Sanjay Yadav, the Vice Principal, Mrs S Kumar, Ms Pankaja and Mr Rajiv Sharma. All students of class XII of 2017 batch lit ‘Diyas’ from the ceremonial lamps signifying the eternal light of knowledge, learning and wisdom. Students received mementoes from the Principal who along with the Vice Principal and Senior Section In-charge blessed them with best wishes for the forthcoming Board Examination.

Republic Day Celebrations

Republic Day was celebrated with much nationalistic fervor in GD Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj on January 25, 2017. The special assembly commenced with the morning prayer by Mr Sanjay Yadav, Principal, GD Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, followed by a talk by Ms Meeru Pande of English Deptt. The mainstay of the function was a melodious medley of patriotic songs by children. The Principal addressed the school with his words of wisdom emphasizing the unenviable role children can perform in nation building.

Christmas celebrations

A pleasant morning, started with the children excited about the forthcoming party celebrations, soon after the exams.
Melodious rendition of the Christmas carols by the students and teachers filled the air with vibrancy.
Principal sir and Vice Principal ma’m addressed the gathering and wished them the very best for the coming year.
Students of class V dispersed in an orderly manner and had a class party while classes 3-4 had exciting mini rail ride and other games.

Diwali Celebration

On Friday, October 25, 2016, on the morning of Dhanteras, a special assembly was held in the school to initiate the mood of the festival of lights. After the morning prayer, Ms Bindu Kaul spoke to the children about different messages that the festival of Diwali delivers. A melodious rendition by children left the audience mesmerised. A dance performance by the children of classes 3, 4 and 5 held the audience spellbound. A skit was presented by Nature Club exhorting everyone to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali. As the assembly ended the excited voices wishing happy Diwali to one another could be heard all around.

Diwali Celebrations

Diwali was celebrated in a little different manner in the school this year. Besides the usual Diwali Asssembly the students of the Primary Department put up a poster outside their class stating the total number of students, who promised to celebrate Diwali without bursting crackers. Students also made Rangoli to usher in a pollution free and environment friendly Diwali.
