Live Jam Session

A highly enlightening and interactive workshop was conducted by LiveJam in G. D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, on December 5, 2017 for the senior school children and on December 8 for the middle school children. It was a fun filled, musical workshop addressing serious issues such as abuse, depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, suicide, bullying and peer pressure. The presenters, Rachel, Ashwini George and Dorothy formed an instant connect with the children. Through their Swachh Bharatiya Abhiyan Campaign, they conveyed that in order to have a clean India, we must have clean hearts. Real life stories of change were narrated and many children were seen wiping their eyes.

LiveJam is a youth movement that works among urban teens and youth. They aim to support educational institutions by providing life values sessions and address issues such as peer pressure, abuse, social media addiction, depression, etc. They do this by engaging students in a program conducted via two mediums they easily connect to and enjoy: MUSIC + real life STORIES OF CHANGE.

 The Swachh Bharatiya Abhiyan is a campaign to engage with 100,000 school kids across Delhi & NCR with the message of hope & transformation. We believe that in order to have a clean India, we must first have clean hearts. And, change begins with us!

Anti Substance Campaign

On October 25th, 2017, G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, organized an enlightening and interactive workshop on anti substance abuse for the students of class XI and XII. The workshop was organised and carried out by the Head Boy, Aryan Kanoi, who had initiated the Anti Substance Campaign in school to mark the Red Ribbon Week, with the support of School Counsellors Ms. Swati Kumar Mohan and Mrs. Gurmanjot Nandwani.

The workshop was presided over and addressed by Ms. Prachi Kathuria, Project officer, HRIDAY (Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth). HRIDAY is an organization of public health professionals, social scientists and lawyers engaged in advocacy and research aiming to promote health awareness and informed health activism among youth in India. The workshop included statistical information, enthralling documentaries about some inspiring stories about people dropping tobacco out of their lives, real life case studies followed by an engrossing Q & A session. The workshop was very informative and instilled a sense of responsibility and prudence amongst our senior Goenkans.

 

Sewa Bharti workshop for SUPW

A workshop was conducted by SEWA BHARTI, the largest NGO of India, in our school, on 6th October 2017 for the SUPW club students. The team of SEWA BHARTI made the students aware of its various activities such as Kishori Vikas, Tree plantation drive, Adoption of centres, Diagnostic centre etc. Students were  inspired to work and contribute their talent to the less fortunate, to boycott the use of Chinese products and to strengthen our Indian economy.Moreover, the students were sensitized to the needs of underprivileged citizens of our country and were motivated to donate to The Goodwill store of SEWA Bharti in Ashok Vihar.

Workshop – Sahaja Yoga

G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, took its teachers on a journey of self-realisation through the four sessions of Sahaja Yoga that were organised on 15th, 19th, 21st and 26th September, 2017.

The Resource Person, Mr Nishchal Kapoor and his team helped the Goenkan teachers with their spontaneous union with the Divine, which in other words is known as Sahaja Yoga. One was set upon one’s Spiritual Ascent by awakening the spiritual energy lying dormant within oneself. Awareness of the divinity present within oneself is sure a transcendental voyage.

Workshop on GST

It was our pleasure that on 6th July Mr. Najib Shah retired Chairman Central Board Exercise and Customs, had come to school to have a seminar on GST. He was one of member on the board of the committee of GST. It is the 101st Constitutional Amendment Act 2016 and we were fortunate that just 5 days after 1st July we had him to address the students. GST is set to revolutionise the way we do our taxes. Goods and services tax is a comprehensive,multistage destination based tax that will be levied on every value addition.

He spoke about the various indirect taxes which are replaced by CGST, SGST, UTGST and IGST. The GST Council decisions taken on various rules framed were also discussed. 

Also the Benefits to business namely- Decrease in inflation, Ease of doing business, Decrease in black transaction, More informed customer, Boost to make in India were explained.

It was an interactive session where the students asked  their apprehensions, thoughts. Since Mr. Shah was in the journey of making GST he answered the question with the thought process that went into making the GST.

Smart Study Skills

On Friday, May5, 2017, G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, organized an enlightening workshop on smart study skills for classes XI and XII. The workshop was conducted by Mr Rajeev Soni. Mr Rajeev Soni made the children aware of a range of relevant issues. He gave the children a chance to vent their anxieties and relieve their stress. His wit and humour made the interaction very interesting. The children were reminded not to lose focus during their preparation of examination. His special tips about smart study skills empowered the children to enhance the quality of their preparation and planning. “Divide and conquer” is the mantra – divide the work and conquer the goal. Persistence is more important than talent, genius or luck. The presentation was followed by an interactive session wherein the children made many queries and received practical solutions. The Principal, Mr Sanjay Yadav, too gave many tips from his personal experience. Later, Ms Rohina Shah, on behalf of the staff and students, thanked Mr Soni for sparing his valuable time.

AN INTERACTIVE CYBER SECURITY WORKSHOP WITH RAKSHIT TANDON

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rakshit Tandon who is a well known person working against cyber crime. I got to hear many eye-opening incidents and cases which made me realize the reality of today’s world. He gave all of us some amazing and helpful advice on how to be safe from the world of internet. It really helped all of us. As soon as I got home, I changed all my privacy settings on all my social media. I really thank him a lot for teaching us so much and giving us knowledge about the world of internet.
